Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year, marks the celebrations of all Chinese people across the globe. The actual festive period lasts for a total of 14 days with the Chinese New Year EVE as one of the most important day of this festive.
Chinese Lunar New Year came about long long time ago, when there is this monster named “年”,pronounced as nian. In order to scare this monster away, you'd have to be in red, that is why children are giving red packets and most of the chinese population still attempt to wear red costumes during chinese new year. Also, firecrackers are "effective" to scare away the monster which further explains the excessive use of firecrackers during these period.
This is what Chinese New Year is like for me, it's been like this for the past 20 odd years. About more than half a decade ago, I've totally just taken such occasions for granted, they've waited till 12am just for be to be home to "Lou Hei" or 捞鱼 in cantonese. 2 years back, my mum suddenly said these words to me...
"There aren't much years like these to come along, enjoy these priceless moments while you still can"
In mandrain of course.
There's a video of the family playing Wii, I honestly hoped to share how the Lim family does the Lou Hei! Aha, it's always epic and dangerous! This year my 2nd youngest cousin got "molested" by the ingredients because we're literally throwing the "stuff" up into the air ahah and some fell into her shirt.
I lost my youngest cousin Wii Sports Bowling 2 - 1 games
I lost to my sister in Wii Sports boxing, she won me on her first KO.. WTF?
23years of life seems to have past with great volumes of memories . . .
surprise birthday celebration in advance to come, by the bunch of most unlikeliest people . . .
