Oppsy!

I did promise myself not to do anything with my stereo for this year, LESS they are broken kekeke. My current Citypulse DAC is sort of going thru a menopause I guess? I'm getting weird static and popping sound occasionally which are really bad symptoms for electronics. I used to get it when it was using a shared socket, now the power is driven on a separated main socket with a new custom power cable. What's worst is that it happens on ALL inputs, usb, coaxial, optical etc.

I bought it for a kick ass S$320 in 2010 i think (SRP US$699) from a banker from CIMB-GK, it's been a well servant, still undecided whether to let it go for $250 or keep it for my living room.

So what's next?

Rega DAC
Review:

It is ugly, really ugly to be very honest so why the Rega? First i refer to this review quote

"If you're a Rega person, you'll gravitate toward the Rega DAC for its distinctively Rega sound quality: rich, full-bodied, almost tube-like. I can't think of any better way to upgrade while keeping, say, a Rega CD player as a transport."

I used to be a scientology, believing that sound should be as it is, uncolored, flat and straightforward sounding. Then the journey began when I start to take a step back and appreciate the "flaws" or "musical distortions" of "colored" sound, my enlightenment came, just listen to music how you like it to be, do not have to let others judge, after all it's my own ears I need to satisfy.

Next would be the number of inputs I require
1. USB (PC audio)
2. Optical (Cable TV)
3. Optical (movies, blurays, dvds)
4. Coaxial (CDP)
Output
1. RCA out to my speaker
2. Coaxial out to my Future pre-amp and the RCA will be to my Tube Amp

So the damage? S$600, the dood wants to sell it for S$650, it's retailing at US$1,200 on their official site, ebay is selling at US$940.

This will be my last DAC, I listen mainly to mandopop and kpop which aren't fans of DSD, for non DSD Dacs, this is the final tier, any higher will be for branding or features I do not need.

Wish me luck !!

Can't believe I actually took time to update and maintain our YEI Forum. Never knew I could be this crazy, but I know 1 thing for sure, it's never too late to start? While caking, someone pop right into my head. Anyway, my top strength is: 1. Ideation: loves associating and providing ideas 2. Command: leadership, loves to put his ideas through 3. Strength Finder 2.0 is a book that only concentrate on strengths ($39.00) zero about weaknesses so all you hear are good stuff. ======= Individualisation Anyway back to my caking session. Mr Ibrahim, came to my mind. He was quite a good looking Indian back in my primary school days. I've always tried to protect him though I admit to join in bullying him once in a while. Sometimes he'd come to me "begging" to help him or lend him money with his hands in "praying mode". I took pity of him ever since he did that once and when he told me "All i got is 40cents a day and they sto...

The Pioneer LX55 Bluray Player Review

Pioneer Corporations, once the leading company for Home Theatre Systems, Display and Optical players, began to falter when the likes of Samsung, LG, Sharp etc came into picture with lower end products for the mass consumer. Pioneer, who steer clear form the niche market, producing high end products, fell to it's knees, withdrawing from the TVs market and started a joint venture with Sharp, resulted in absolute catastrophe. Pioneer fanboys nicknamed the products "Sharpioneer" A bold direction, right or wrong, there's too much points to take, although myself would 200% standby their decision to continue with making highend products previously, even though they failed eventually. Anyhow, ever since that catastrophic "Sharpioneer" released, tons of consumers ditched their players within days of purchases, the management finally woke the FUCK UP. Director Product Planning and Marketing Pioneer USA, Chris Walker started visiting multiple online forums, gat...
