Being the golden boy in the household, I never understood what's the whole concept of having sons over daughters, being the eldest grandson of the eldest son etc. until funerals. During my grandpa's I was too distraught to notice, but my grandma's I totally could understand why.
My grandma had 3 generations of sons sending her off, it was my bad that I couldn't make it in time but I would've never beat my cousin to it haha. He had a shot-gun marriage at a tender age of 18, barely legal.
Still, the neighbors adore the majestic send off by her sons, grandsons and great grand son as we march under the scorching sun at 1pm from her house, through the village into the main district and around the Hainan Clan Association building, her final journey ends.
I wasn't really ready, there wasn't any heads up, she was only 78years old but we all could see our grandpa smiling at the grave. Guess he's had enough of my grandma having too much fun without him around ^^.
#RIP Popo ~ Thanks for spoiling me and made me the prince of the household with your presence. Do not worry about any of us, we are doing really really well :))
